The staff of the Quantico Growth Management Committee is currently conducting a study of the quantity, quality, and amenities of lodging facilities in the area surrounding Marine Corps Base Quantico. The study will also examine the current Per Diem rates established for the area by the General Services Administration (GSA) and the possibility of increasing those rates in order to attract additional lodging providers to the area.
Transportation Demand Management Study
The firm of Marstel-Day was retained by the Marine Corps to conduct a Transportation Demand Management Study for Quantico based on BRAC 2005.
Enhanced Use Lease
A study is currently being conducted of the feasibility of creating an enhanced use leasing agreement on property owned by Marine Corps Base Quantico in exchange for capital improvement conducted by the leasing agency.
Ferry Feasibility Study
A feasibility study was conducted for a commuter ferry that would run between Prince William County and Washington DC. The study is complete, and next steps are being evaluated.
Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) Impact Study
Prince William County hired a firm to conduct a study of the impacts of BRAC on the Potomac Communities. The Route 1 corridor, including all land east of Interstate 95 in Prince William County, is incorporated into the Potomac Communities Revitalization Plan. Recommendations from the BRAC Impact Study will be implemented through the Potomac Communities plan.
Bus Rapid Transit Study
A feasibility study is being conducted for a bus rapid transit system that would run along Route 1. Dedicated lanes, road widening, and schedule variations are being studied. The study will be completed in 2010.
