Interested in BRAC, but don’t know how to get involved? Wondering what gets discussed at these meetings? Trying to find more ways to help your community? Worried about how your interests are being represented? The best way to help yourself, your community, and the military is to get involved. Various opportunities exist for citizens to get involved in their government beyond just voting. You might try one of these ways of getting involved:
- Come to our meetings. The Quantico Growth Management Committee typically meets every two months on a Monday night. The location switches back and forth between Stafford and Prince William County government centers. Click here for the agenda for the next meeting.
- Join the Quantico/Belvoir Regional Business Alliance. This group’s mission is to position the region as a welcoming and supporting community to the military and their business partners. The Alliance holds events to connect contractors, local businesses, and other stakeholders with the information and opportunities necessary to enhance the readiness of our area for incoming military and federal workers. The Alliance also looks to assist those that are already living here. Click here to check out their website and all the opportunities they offer.
- Come to special events, like the Military Appreciation event that will be held Veteran’s Day in Manassas. The event, lead by the Quantico/Belvoir Regional Business Alliance, celebrates the value of having such a strong military presence in our community. This asset is one of the strongest benefits of living in the National Capital Region, and we’re always looking for more ways to champion our military. Click here for more on this event.
- Interested in learning more about the future of your community, beyond just the immediate implications of BRAC? Get involved in the local planning efforts of your community. Local Planning Commissions meet regularly in each jurisdiction. For Prince William County’s planning department, click here. For Stafford County’s planning department, click here.
